Sorry I've been gone so long

Sorry I've been gone so long, but lots of things have been going on right now. I mean lots.
I will update you more later, but here is a cute clip for you to watch until then.

My neighbor and I (and the kids) did a little fabric shopping on Monday.
While I did not find anything that "blew up my skirt", she found a fabric that she loved. Lucky for her it was on clearance (and it did not hurt that clearance was an extra 50% off).
Good for her!
Fabric titled "Bow Wow Chow Mein" by Alexander Henry produced in 1995.
Well she bought all that was left on the bolt and turned to look at me and asked, "Can you make me some pillowcases?"
Well sure... as long as you watch Benjamin.
It only took me a couple of hours from start to finish (with a little break in there for lunch). Not bad time considering I needed to wash, dry, iron, cut, and stitch the fabric.
I tell you. It was very peaceful stitching without the wee man running underfoot.
For your viewing pleasure.
Photos of the finished product.
I know the images are kind of small, but I forgot to take photos of them when I finished, so my neighbor was kind enough to take these for me and sent them over.
So what is next on my sewing table?
I have no idea.
So I belong to this swap group on Flickr called "A little fabric, a little chocolate."
I received my package today and whoa boy did junienone go all out! Here is a photo of the 'goods' she sent me.
You may be asking yourself, but where is the chocolate? In my profile I mention I am not a huge chocolate fan and she sent me the wonderful chewy sweet tarts (my favorite, how did she know) and chewy sprees (also close to the top of favs).
What a great way to start a day!
She is also a wonderful quilt maker. Check out her Etsy shop here and be sure to support makers of handmade goodies!
Thank you so much I loved it!
I spent an hour at Ed McKay's just the other day (that was about as long as Ben would allow), but in that short of time I found these great books.
Donna Hay... what more can I say. If you have never heard of her, shame on you! She does the most amazing things with food. Her recipes are quite simple and you should have most of the ingredients in your cabinets (if you are a cook). She also has a fabulous magazine also titled Donna Hay magazine (you can find them at Barnes & Nobles). Check her out!
This next book, The Sneaky Chef, is slowly becoming one of my favorites. We have the hardest time getting Benjamin to eat good foods. I was quite the skeptic when the book tells you to make a "purple paste" out of blueberries and spinach and mix it in with chocolate chip pancakes, but it really did not taste that bad and Benjamin gobbled them up. Who would have thought it!
Lastly, a book for my wee Ruby girl. We had a Three Dog Bakery in Seattle and while I could never bring myself to spend that kind of money on doggie goods. I did not mind spending three bucks on the book to make my own at home. Most of the treats are made with whole wheat flour, honey, peanut butter, etc. So not only are they healthy, but they are people friendly as well. Of course, dear hunny bunny could not believe I was feeding Ruby treats to the baby!
If your local library carries any of these books... Check them out!
Ken may laugh that I will spend a good part of the day (at least once a week) at the local 'junk shops', but hey... you just never know what you will find.
Like this drum kit for instance.
$10 bucks and Ben loves it... so it makes it all worth while.
Oh. Ben was not sweating like a rock star, it was a pop-icey explosion!
So Saturday afternoon was pretty laid back and low key for us. That was until this crazy storm front started blowing through.
It was rough weather, very rough weather. We started getting the flashing boxes across the TV screen for 'thunder storm warning/watch" and then 'tornado watch'.
I tell you, the trains come by this area so often I started losing my mind not knowing if it was really a tornado.
This did not help the cause either.
Yup, that is hail. It was large and it hurt if you tried to run out in it. Do not ask me. Ask dear hunny bunny who was trying to get to the car to move it to the garage.
If you do not hear from me in a few days, call out the calvary because it really was a tornado.
