Square foot gardening

May 29, 2008 at 07:56

Mary, Mary, quite contrary... How does your garden grow?

Why?

By the square foot of course!

Dear hunny bunny built me two great planters and two wonderful compost bins over the Memorial holiday weekend. They are great, very economical, and earth friendly.

Got the idea of square foot gardening from Mel Bartholomew.

I hope this works. I was really getting excited after reading his book that I purchased from the thrift store for ten cents.

Here are a few photos for your entertainment.

And of course, Ruby has the new job of keeping squirrels out! She is taking this job very seriously.

Now I just have to figure out what I want to use in between the beds and as a buffer into the yard to make that area a little more aesthetically pleasing (bark, paving stones).

Any ideas?

New collars in the Catalog

May 28, 2008 at 03:39

Hi everyone.

I have finished a few more collars to add to the Catalog.

Thanks to those who have inquired.

These collars are large (15" - 24" neck size, with 1 inch clips) . Made from imported Japanese panda bear fabric.

Here is a stylish new collar for Ruby as well. She has been in need of one for sometime.

Ruby modeling.

Have a great day!

Ruby's favorite spot

Mar 26, 2008 at 01:45

Ruby loves to sit at the side window on the stairs and watch and birds fly by.

It is hard to believe she is 7 months old and she will be a small dog. I've never been much of a small dog person, but I guess the older I get the more diverse I become.

Who knows... the next dog will probably be another Dane.

Happy Valentine's Day

Feb 14, 2008 at 04:39

It turned out to be a wonderful day. I woke up to the most beautiful sight.

When the wee man got up, we got him dressed to play in the snow. He and Ruby had a blast and played for hours. It was cute seeing them chase each other around and around and around.

And check out this cute wee booty in the snow bib!

The snow we had today was my kind of snow. We woke up to its beauty, played until it was time to have some homemade hot cocoa, and it was all melted in time for the wee man's afternoon nap. Oh yeah, and it did not interfere with hunny bunny taking me to a nice Thai dinner and a romp through Home Depot.

It was a perfect ending to a perfect day.

Happy Valentine's Day everybody!

How many more days 'til Christmas?

Dec 12, 2007 at 03:41

First:

I would like to thank dear hunny bunny for "fixing" my site to load multiple pictures.

"Thank you, hunny bunny!"

Last night:

Here is a cute photo we took last night for "Paws and Claus." I would have rather not been in the photo, but little B was not going to sit still otherwise. Good 'ole Ruby was just along for the ride. Oh, and the cute Claus is our neighbour, Jerry. We live in a very eclectic neighbourhood, both Mr. and Mrs. Claus are there.

Second:

I would like to show off my newest edition to the Nine Fireflies line.

A cute dog collar made of this fabulous panda fabric I had sent over from Japan. Once dear Hunny Bunny can find the time to set up my "little shop" I will be offering them for sale.

Last:

I would like to tell everyone out there in Blogland, "Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays." We will be visiting family this season, but I hope to still be posting from Florida.

xo

Ruby

Nov 26, 2007 at 11:56

As some of you may know, we got a new puppy this month (after lots of pleading with PaPa).

Her name is Ruby. Her mama is a Boston terrier and her papa, a traveling salesman. She has been loads of fun for me and my wee man.

This week I made her a new place mat for her bowls and she seems to be enjoying them.

Now if I could just find more stylish bowls...
