As good as it gets... for now.

Oct 26, 2009 at 07:46

Here are a few shots of the new kitchen. I would say it is 85% to 90% complete.

All we need is to hang window/door trim, put up the crown molding/baseboards, attach the glass knobs to the cabinets, and tile the backsplash. It may sound like alot, but to me its the home stretch.

This is the corner that used to house the hot water heater and old stove.

The sink went back into its old space, we just added the dishwasher.

This was the area where there was a crazy old closet. We removed the closet, set the fridge back and added a few more cabinets.

My magnetic wall was an after thought. While magnet paint is nice (since magnets won't stick to the fridge) it doesn't work to well. So save your money.

Once everything is done, I'll do a few before/after shots.

Nighty night!

A first kiss?!?

Oct 25, 2009 at 09:24

Well the family and I were invited to the neighbor's for a little casual get together.

It was fabulous. Good food, nice folks, and lots of conversation. We met a single dad with a little girl (same age as Little B). She was adorable. Dark completion, cute little pig tails, and boy could she shake it down.

Well I guess Little B thought she was cute too. He offered her juice boxes, graham crackers, and eventually won her heart because by the end of the night they shared a little kiss.

It brought a tear to my eye. That's because I was unsure whether to laugh or cry.

They grow up so fast.

Another project?!?

Oct 11, 2009 at 10:03

When will we learn to finish one before moving onto another?

I think you remember in one of the older posts we were working on the kitchen. Well we are still not done with it, but it is use-able. Maybe in a week or so I will post a few more shots just to let you know how far it has come and hopefully by Thanksgiving it will be something I can really give thanks for. ^_^

Now to unveil the next project.

Drum roll please...

Yep! That's La Casa and she is receiving some prep work for a fresh coat of paint. Let's hope this project will be completed soon since Ken and I are not the ones working on it.

Here is just a sneak peek for you to consider.

Only in Florida can you paint your house pink!

A little cleaning, a little kung-fu, and a little sewing

Sep 21, 2009 at 02:31

It was very low key here last week. Papa was on a business meeting at Lake George, I am still cleaning and unpacking the house, little B was practicing his kung-fu moves, and I was able to sneak in a little sewing time.

You heard me right! I got to sew! Of course, it was not for me, but it was for my nephew's 4th birthday, so it was just as good.

I made this super sweet, very easy pillow for my nephew who is completely in love with pirates. Well, I actually made two covers, but only had an insert for one of them. I was completely uncreative about just moving the insert around for another shot.

This pillow was put together after Ben received a gift from our good friend Katie over at Willy-Nilly.

As you can see, Ben loves his new pillow.

Oh, and there was also a little kung-fu going on also.

More later.

One week turns into one month

Aug 30, 2009 at 08:29

As many of you know, my husband and I are suckers for older homes. With that comes renovations. Lots of renovations. The one thing I can say for La Casa is that she had central air when we bought her.

After completing kitchen renovations in our NC home, cooking in an old kitchen with an electric range was just not what I wanted. Especially since I was preparing 90% of our meals at home. So after months of discussion and pleading my case, I was able to convince dear husband to start a kitchen remodel.

My bro, basking in the glory of his handiwork.

Are you ready for this...

Nothing... no "after" shots because we are still waiting on our sink from Lowe's Home Improvement (that has come in broken... twice). With no sink, there are no counter tops.

Hence, the kitchen that should have been done in a week has now turned into a month and still no kitchen. Damn you LOWES!!!

More later.
