Stash equalization

Feb 9, 2009 at 03:55

By now it is old news that we have moved, and moved, and moved again.

I still have not totally unpacked my craft space (maybe it is for fear we will move again, or maybe not). I am waiting on one more shelf to show up and all my craft supplies will be out and in full view. I can not wait. I mean, I have done a small amount of sewing here and there, but if I could see what I have, get my things organized, and a designated space to do it all in... life would be good.

In the meantime, I have been doing a small amount of stash equalization. What is that you ask? The simple answer: swapping.

This great piece of fabric was swapped for the same print, but in different colors.
The designer: Sandy Klopp for American Jane
The line: Peas and Carrotts
The manufacturer: Moda

Thank you Film in the Fridge!

She and I set up this sweet little swap last week. She had red... I wanted red... I had orange and yellow... she wanted orange and yellow.

Now if we could only find it in green. Anyone out there in blogland listening?

Fun fabric Friday (02.06.09)

Feb 6, 2009 at 03:19

In lieu of a FFF FQ Giveaway every Friday, I will be giving away fabric one Friday each month. So keep your eyes peeled on the blog and on Flickr for the giveaway!

I did not mind giving away fabric each Friday, it was the postage that hurt and with rates going up again in March (or May, I can't remember), I just can't do it and keep my stash a float (is anyone else out there laughing).

Instead, I will come to you each Friday and share a peak of what is in the stash.

Let's start with "What's new!"

I went to JoAnn's for two things (non-fabric) and came home with these lovely fabrics.

Also unpacking a bit more of my stash has uncovered these two awesome fabrics from Alexander Henry titled Arvika.

Lastly, while the little man is visiting his Avo today I whipped up a little something for myself. A new checkbook cover via this fabulous tutorial from Crazy Mom Quilts.

Have a great weekend everyone!

Ben's 1st trip to New York

Feb 4, 2009 at 05:41

This past weekend the family went on a long weekend to NYC for a little getaway. I won't say it was meant to be relaxing because it wasn't.

Here is a photo of Ben's first ride on a train.

He was amazed. He loved riding the trains and subways that I think we could have spent the whole trip underground.

I did not include any airplane shots because... well lets face it. Ben is a well seasoned veteran of the skies! Going to NY was his sixth or seventh time on a plane and he was bored with it.

Ben celebrated his third birthday last week and as a little extension of his special day we decided to take our little monkey to see the dinosaurs at the Museum of Natural History.

He was so excited that you almost could not see him.

Other random shots from that fun filled and exhausting day.

Again I want to thank the great folks at ESC for letting us stay at the company apartment while visiting the city. Hope we didn't leave it in too much of a mess.

The little family has been on a little vacation the last few days.

I want to say thanks to the friendly folks at ESC for letting us crash in the company apartment in NYC for the weekend.

Now moving on (I will blog more about the trip later, but this is important stuff)...

When we returned home from our trip the postman left me a nice little box outside of our front door.

It was from my dear friend out in Seattle who was just here for a small visit herself at the beginning of the new year.

This is what she sent me.

Thanks KT! I loved every piece of it... and I can't believe you sent me some of your fantastic stash of "Paint by Numbers Birds".

xoxo

3 is the new 2

Jan 26, 2009 at 09:28

You better believe it!

3 is the new 2. Everyone used to say, "Terrible Twos!"... they obviously had not hit 3 yet.

The little guy woke up on the wrong side of the bed and stayed there all day.

I was able to make some strawberry muffins (from scratch) along with some chocolate ganache (also from scratch) for Ben's birthday. Let's just say they were a big hit!

Happy Birthday Monkey!

xoxo
