Baby M.

Nov 18, 2008 at 08:51

Many of you know that we are currently residing in a very tiny cottage while we are waiting for work to be completed on our new, old home (more on La Casa later).

While that is happening, my poor little Bernina (I have yet to name her) has been sitting in storage while waiting for it's new home. However with the arrival of Baby M., I just had to send something handmade to her. So off to the store unit I went to rescue (I mean retrieve) her!

Armed with my new Anna Marie Horner book in hand, I was off to the fabric store!

Whatever I made, it had to be simple and require little space. As we have small space to spare for cutting and sewing.

This is what I came up with...

A cute little car quilt made with Heather Ross and Amy Butler.

I tried the new "green" batting made with bamboo and organic cotton. Yeah, I was not impressed. This stuff pilled up like crazy and was coming up through the fabric. I do not know that I would use it again or recommend it to anyone. However, the quilt was made and it is now on its way to its new home. I will just have to send something a little extra at the holidays.

More later.

I had been curious as to everyone's thoughts and experiences with the bamboo and organic cotton batting. It sounds like it's better to skip using and just use regular 100% cotton batting. It's a shame really.
